This year the workers at the Des Moines Amcor plant made the decision to merge with Local 238 and become part of Iowa’s Strongest Union. After thirteen years of settling for sub-par contracts (even though they were labeled essential employees in 2020 working throughout COVID), being disrespected by the corporate owners and local plant management, they collectively decided enough was enough. The new Local 238 Members stood Strong together and went out on strike against their Employer DEMANDING dignity and respect. Their act of solidarity proved successful and they received the best contract they’ve ever had with absolutely zero concessions and big gains in wages and benefits.
